JAQI FURBACK
story creator
about me
Purpose

My creative life has and will always boil down to one intention: "to facilitate joy in others." Whether it be through a insight, inspiration, empathy or levity... my creations are intended to make you think, feel, laugh, and grow. I spent most of my 20s and 30s as a standup comedian, but I no longer limit my expression to just jokes. Not everyone wants to laugh all the time.
Someone told me once "I don't really like... comedy." His comment made me realize that every art form is a language, and not everyone speaks "comedy." So, I have expanded the number of languages I know. I tell jokes. I write short stories for kindle. I act in short films/sketches. I create digital art. I do production and art design for short films.

Bio

Jaqi Furback attended Marymount Manhattan College as well as Cornish College of the Arts for a BFA in Acting, but swiftly transitioned into standup comedy. She played every gig you could imagine: from the comedy clubs of NYC to a child's fort built on AstroTurf in a Puppet Clothing Supply Store on a back road in Washington State.

She's been featured in the Huffington Post, Funny or Die, Vh1's Big Morning Buzz, & Seattle's King 5 Evening Magazine. I was a co-founder and co-host of the "Whoremones Podcast," which consistently ranked "Top 10 podcasts about Sexuality" during her tenure. She's also been featured as a guest on multiple podcasts hosted by the "Keith and the Girl" network.

More recently, her career has evolved into many other facets of storytelling. She is now a story producer for scripted and unscripted projects at Coattail Media. She is also a 2018 NYFA Women in Film grant finalist for a short film she wrote. In 2020, she designed and art directed a short film that premiered at the NYC Chain Film Festival that year.
